A man has died and another suffered serious injuries after a car slammed into a tree in the early hours of Monday morning.
The red Ford Falcon was travelling on Hayman Rd in the Perth suburb of Como when the driver lost control just before 12.30am, WA Police said.

The car was still smoking when emergency services arrived.
A male passenger, 34, was taken to Royal Perth Hospital with life-threatening injuries but died late on Monday afternoon.
The driver, a 45-year-old man, was taken to the same hospital with serious injuries.
The road was shut down for hours and Major Crash investigators have appealed for information as they look into what went wrong.

It was the latest in a series of deadly crashes in WA over the Easter holiday period including the death of a 14-year-old boy in a motorcycle crash on Thursday.
Meanwhile, a woman aged in her 70s escaped serious injury after driving off a beach lookout in Jindalee, an outer coastal suburb in Perth’s north.
Her Toyota Yaris plunged metres down an embankment just before 5am on Monday.

She was helped from the car by firefighters and taken to Joondalup Health Campus for a check-up.
Friends told 7NEWS that miraculously she is doing OK.
“It’s a huge drop and I won’t fancy going down there myself, that’s for sure,” one person checking out the aftermath said.
“Amazing news that she’s OK. Could’ve been a lot worse.”
