Police say the suspect is charged with animal cruelty. The dog remains missing.
A man is facing an animal cruelty charge after allegedly kicking a dog into a street in Roxbury on Wednesday, according to Boston police.
The incident occurred around 4 p.m. near 559 Dudley St., where a woman was walking her dog, Biscuit. The man approached and, without warning, kicked the dog onto the street, according to a Boston Police Department report.
The woman ran after her dog but was unable to locate Biscuit, police said.
Shortly after the incident, the man was allegedly assaulted by five unidentified individuals at the same location, according to the report.
When officers responded to a call for the fight, the man told them he had been attacked by five unknown men after kicking the dog. He described the group as men in their 20s and said they were unarmed and fled the scene, according to police.
Officers noted the man appeared “extremely agitated,” with cuts on his left hand. He complained of blood loss and dizziness and was at times unresponsive to officers’ questions, according to the report.
Police said the man was charged with animal cruelty.
As of Friday, Biscuit remained missing. A Boston-based emergency alert account, s.t.A.c.o. (Safer Town And City Organization), posted on X urging anyone who sees the dog to call or text 617-704-7726.
