Look Back Live-Action Film Gets Super Teaser Preview

The live-action Look Back film adaptation from Hirokazu Kore-eda (ShopliftersBroker, Monster) has received a super teaser video., providing a first look at its footage.

It was revealed that the movie was entirely shot on film.

Also revealed were additional staff credits, including music composer Yuta Bandoh (Belle co-composer, Kaiju No. 8), cinematographer Senzo Ueno (Kosei no Mukogawa), and assistant director Kensei Nakayama.

The movie was revealed earlier this month.

Look Back is a Shueisha-published one-shot that was released in July 2021 and is also available in English via Manga Plus and VIZ Media. The story follows two classmates who develop a friendship through a passion for drawing. 

2024 saw the release of an anime movie adaptation directed by Kiyotaka Oshiyama (Flip Flappers director, Chainsaw Man devil designer) at his Studio Durian. The film won the Best Animated Work award at the 48th Japan Academy Film Prize. An exhibition will take place at Tokyo’s Azabudai Hills Gallery from January 16, 2026 to March 29, 2026.
