The No. 22 Boston College Eagles (21-9, 8-4 ACC) baseball team opens its series with the No. 6 UNC Tar Heels (25-4-1, 9-3 ACC) on Thursday evening in Chapel Hill, N.C.
The Eagles are looking to continue their momentum. Boston College is coming off a series win over No. 10 Virginia last weekend and a 7-4 midweek win over Maine on Tuesday. In the series with the Cavaliers, Boston College took the first two games 5-3 and 17-0, but lost the finale 3-1.
The Tar Heels are also riding momentum as they are on a six-game win streak. In the stretch, UNC has picked up wins over Louisville 7-6 to take the series, South Carolina 9-1, swept Notre Dame 6-5, 13-7, and 15-10, and Campbell 5-4.
Left-handed pitcher and ace A.J. Colarusso (2-1, 3.37 ERA) will start on the mound for Boston College. So far this season, the senior has made seven starts, pitched 34.2 innings and allowed 35 hits, 21 runs (13 earned), walked 11 batters, and struck out 30.
As for UNC, the Tar Heels will go with right-handed pitcher Ryan Lynch (2-2, 4.42 ERA). Lynch has started in seven games so far this season, pitched 38.2 innings and allowed 37 hits, 19 runs (all earned), walked 11 batters, and struck out 40.
