Light plane crashes in Jacobs Well, Queensland with fears for two people onboard

There are fears two people are dead after a light plane crashed just north of the Gold Coast.

The plane crashed into bushland in Jacobs Well near the Hecks Airfield on Tuesday morning.

It is not yet known if the crash during take-off or landing.

Two people were in the cockpit, a spokesperson for the Queensland Fire Department told 7NEWS.com.au, however their fate is currently unknown.

The crash started a large grass fire in the area with seven fire crews still a the scene working to put it out.

A crime scene has now been declared and the Australian Transport Safety Bureau has been notified.
