It’s that time of year again – lavender season! If you’ve got a soft spot for the perennial flowering plant, you won’t want to miss the Lavender Bloom Festival in Hahndorf, running from 19th December 2025 to 7th January 2026.

For lovers of all things lavender, the festival celebrates this wonderfully soothing, scented plant, in all its glory. On each day of the festival, the farm gates open at 9am and close at 7pm, with entry tickets allowing you to enter any time during business opening hours, for as long as you like.

Where will you find this majestic, purple oasis? The festival takes place at the Hahndorf Lavender Estate, located just outside of Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills, 25 minutes from the Adelaide CBD.

Spend the day having a relaxing wander through the three beautiful lavender fields, pick your own bunch to take home, and learn everything there is to know about lavender harvesting and distillation, from the farm’s experts.

A variety of lavender products are also available for purchase at the farm shop, and according to farm director Nicole Jordan, the plants – all 50,000 of them – are incorporated into all areas of the farm and festival, providing a true lavender-lover’s experience.

“We have over 30 products that are made with our 100% pure lavender oil and dried lavender from our fields that people can smell, feel and purchase,” says Nicole. “We have body care, creams, hair care, oils, balms, products for the bath/shower, lavender accessories, lavender sachets, lavender wheat bags and lavender teddies.”

Feeling peckish? “We offer lavender-infused food and drinks such as lavender ice-cream, lavender lemonade and lavender brownies. We also have bakery food for meat-lovers and vegetarians,” says Nicole.

Also on the menu is a wide range of beverages, ranging from coffee and soft drinks to local drops, and on Fridays, you can expect some top-notch cuisine from their Thai food truck. Expect some additional entertainment on weekends with live music, and consider taking advantage of the picnic lunch basket for an additional $70, which offers everything you could want and need for a relaxing day in the Hills.

Nature-lovers? There are plenty of photo opportunities with the farm situated against the stunning backdrop of the Adelaide Hills, and home to a multitude of friendly farm animals, including Highland cows, alpacas, and sheep.

Suitable to festival-goers of all ages, but children under 12 years must be accompanied by an adult and supervised at all times.

“Our event is for everyone,” says Nicole. “We are family-friendly and pet-friendly. We have farm animals for the kids to play with. Food and drink for everyone to enjoy as well as picnic areas. Lavender fields for photoshoots.”

Since the lavender only flowers for four weeks of the year, starting in December, there’s no time to waste.

So, gather the kids, your friends, and even your fur-babies (on leads at all times, of course)! Or, visit solo, if a leisurely stroll between the fields on a balmy summer’s day takes your fancy. Either way, be sure to book your tickets as soon as possible, and head on over to this lavender-loving festival.
