Australia posted innings of 371 and 349, with Travis Head leading the charge with 170 runs and Alex Carey contributing 72. England replied with 286 and 352, featuring notable knocks from Zak Crawley (85), Jamie Smith (60), and Will Jacks (47).

The Australian bowling attack was spearheaded by Mitchell Starc (3-42), Pat Cummins (3-48), and Nathan Lyon (3-77).

The decisive moment came when Scott Boland induced a thick edge from England’s No. 11 Josh Tongue, which was safely caught by Marnus Labuschagne at first slip. Brydon Carse remained unbeaten on 39 but was left stranded as England’s fightback fell short.

Mitchell Starc, though missing out on the Player of the Match award for the first time in the series, was instrumental in the final innings, taking three of the last four wickets. His swing and seam movement on a placid Adelaide pitch proved too much for England’s batsmen.

The match also saw a setback for Australia as Nathan Lyon suffered a hamstring injury, forcing him off the field during a crucial phase. Despite this, the Australian bowling unit maintained pressure, with Pat Cummins and Starc closing out the innings.
