The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has announced the operation of 1,000 additional buses during the Christmas festival to cater to the increased travel demand across the State and neighbouring regions.
The special services will run in addition to the existing schedules on December 19, 20, and 24, ahead of Christmas celebrations on December 25.
According to KSRTC, return special services from various intra-State and inter-State destinations to Bengaluru will be operated on December 26 and 28 to facilitate the smooth return of passengers after the festival.
A release by KSRTC stated that exclusive special buses will be operated from Bengaluru’s Kempegowda Bus Station to major religious, tourist, and commercial centres, including Dharmasthala, Kukke Subramanya, Shivamogga, Hassan, Mangaluru, Kundapura, Sringeri, Horanadu, Davangere, Hubballi, Dharwad, Belagavi, Vijayapura, Gokarna, Sirsi, Karwar, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Ballari, Koppala, Yadgir, Bidar, Tirupati, Vijayawada and Hyderabad, among others.
Similarly, special services from Mysuru Road Bus Station will operate exclusively towards Mysuru, Hunsur, Piriyapatna, Virajpet, Kushalanagar and Madikeri.
“KSRTC has enabled advanced computerised reservations for all special buses, and the passengers are advised to carefully note their boarding points mentioned on the tickets. Tickets can be booked online through the KSRTC website as well as at reservation counters across Karnataka and other States,” a release stated.
To encourage group travel, KSRTC is offering a 5% fare discount for four or more passengers booking on a single ticket, and a 10% discount on return journey tickets if onward and return tickets are booked together.
“In addition, KSRTC will operate special buses from all taluk and district bus stands based on traffic requirements to ensure hassle-free travel during the festive season,” release added.
