Kondapalli railway station to be developed with ₹10 crore

The Central government has approved the development of Kondapalli Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat 2.0 scheme, Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivnath said on Wednesday (January 7, 2026). The station is slated for modernisation with proposed development works worth ₹10 crore.

Mr. Sivnath, along with MLA Vasantha Krishna Prasad, inspected the station’s infrastructure, platform height, and other passenger amenities. They examined drainage issues along the Kondapalli–Vijayawada railway track, particularly at the Kondapalli ST Colony, where annual rains cause water stagnation affecting nearby residents.

The officials visited the Gollapudi Bulb Line Station to explore the possibility of using it as an alternative station for Vijayawada Railway Station. Mr. Sivnath highlighted that approximately 150 acres of land between three railway tracks at Gollapudi would be suitable for the development of a functional station.

The proposal was discussed with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and would be evaluated with the railway authorities, he said.

The MP stated that modernised facilities at Kondapalli would also support the growing traffic of the Amaravati capital region, with express trains expected to halt at the station soon.

He further noted that tenders for LC Nos. 147 and 148 ROBs along the Kondapalli–Gollapudi route have been completed, while LC No. 140 has received RU approval and LC No. 150 is being upgraded from a two-line to a four-line ROB.

MLA Vasantha Krishna Prasad emphasised the continuous efforts being made with the MP to ensure the rapid implementation of the station development. He said that the long-awaited dream of Kondapalli residents for a modern railway station is set to become a reality shortly.

TDP State executive secretary Jampala Sitaramayya, Kondapalli Municipal Chairman Chennuboyina Chittibabu, BJP and Jana Sena coordinators, TDP Kondapalli president Balaji, and several senior railway and local community representatives accompanied the MP.
