The ABC has released a first look and premiere date for Bad Company, a sharp backstage satire comedy following a theatre company on the brink and the two women pulling it in completely opposite directions.
Egos, ambition and financial reality collide in the new series premiering this April, as creative vision meets corporate control, setting the stage for a messy and hopefully very funny showdown.
First announced in September last year, the six part series stars Anne Edmonds and Kitty Flanagan as rival forces battling over the future of a struggling theatre company, with Edmonds also serving as creator and writer.

Set inside the crumbling Argyle Theatre, the story centres on Edmonds’ Margie Argyle, a wildly confident artistic director whose bold creative vision risks tipping the already fragile company into financial ruin.
Standing in her way is Flanagan’s Julia McNamara, a corporate operator brought in to restore order, setting up a clash between creative chaos and corporate control, with the series leaning into backstage dysfunction and biting satire.
The series is backed by a strong supporting line up, with Will Gibb, Cameron James, Angella Dravid, Kira Puru and Ben Pfeiffer joining the chaos around them.
Both leads are well known to local audiences as stand up comedians, with Edmonds also hosting Network 10’s revived Talkin’ ’Bout Your Gen, while Flanagan is the star and creator of ABC favourite Fisk.
Behind the scenes, the series is directed by Tom Peterson, whose credits include Fisk, and produced by Andrew Walker, known for Deadloch and Rosehaven.
Production comes from Guesswork Television, the team behind Deadloch, Frayed, Hard Quiz and The Weekly, alongside support from Screen Australia and VicScreen, with filming taking place in Melbourne.
