Kite and String Sales Surge in Lahore Ahead of Basant

Kite and string sales remained at their peak for the second consecutive day in Lahore as citizens continued preparations for the Basant festival, leading to massive market activity.

According to the Legal Advisor of the Kite Flying Association, sales exceeding Rs180 million were recorded on the second day alone, while more than Rs160 million worth of kites and strings were sold on the first day.

In total, sales have crossed Rs320 million over the two days.

Association representative Malik Faizan Ahmed stated that over 600,000 kites were sold across markets on the second day, along with more than 15,000 string reels.

In terms of prices, a one-and-a-half tawa kite bundle is selling for around Rs700, a one tawa bundle for Rs350, and a quarter tawa bundle for Rs200.

Meanwhile, a two-piece string reel is being sold for Rs7,000 to Rs8,000, while a four-piece reel ranges between Rs12,000 and Rs15,000, reflecting unusually strong business activity in the markets.
