The sixth season of the long-running Kingdom anime series premiered in Japan on October 4, 2025 and ended on December 27, 2025, airing for 13 episodes.
Season six retained many of the staff from seasons 3-5, which include Kenichi Imaizumi as director, Noboru Takagi as series composer, Hisashi Abe as character designer, and Hiroyuki Sawano and KOHTA YAMAMOTO as music composers. Pierrot and its subsidiary St.Signpost handled the animation production.
The anime is based on the Warring States historical manga series by Yasuhisa Hara. It was launched in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump on January 26, 2006 and has released 77 tankobon volumes in Japan as of October 2025. A 78th volume will be published on October 17, 2025. VIZ Media licensed the manga for English release earlier this year.
Besides the anime series, the manga has inspired four live-action film adaptations, including a fifth installment that will premiere in summer 2026, a 2010 video game, and two mobile games in 2016 and 2018, respectively. It was also the recipient of the 17th Osamu Tezuka Cultural prize. In December 2024, the series’ print circulation numbers passed 110 million copies.
