Kids series PEPPA PIG introduces defining storyline for brother George

A familiar muddy puddle is getting a meaningful new splash, with Peppa Pig introducing a defining storyline for one of its most-loved characters.

Hasbro has announced a progression in the world of Peppa Pig, revealing Peppa’s younger brother George to be moderately deaf in upcoming episodes.

The long-running preschool series is evolving again, shining the spotlight on George in a way that reflects real children and families.

The development comes after Peppa Pig entered a new phase last year with the arrival of baby sister Evie, which marked a broader refresh of the series and its modern family focus.

The storyline continues the show’s emphasis on representation while remaining firmly grounded in everyday preschool life.

George’s evolution builds on the show’s history of inclusive storytelling, following characters like Mandy Mouse, who uses a wheelchair, and Penny Polar Bear, who has two mothers.

The addition reinforces the idea that Peppa’s world reflects the one children see around them, without making difference the headline of the story.

Hasbro’s Esra Cafer, Senior Vice President of Franchise Strategy and Management for Preschool and Fashion, said the character’s journey mirrors the way the series has grown alongside families for more than two decades.

“George has grown from Peppa’s curious little brother into a character with his own voice and experiences.”

To ensure the storyline was handled with care, Hasbro partnered with the National Deaf Children’s Society and deaf executive producer and script consultant Camilla Arnold, who advised on language, tone and authentic family representation.

The collaboration also extends beyond the screen, with additional resources for parents to be made available online.

National Deaf Children’s Society Chief Executive George Crockford said the move was an important step for children’s television.

“Introducing this storyline in a series as beloved as PEPPA PIG is an important step toward creating a world where anything is possible for deaf children.”

The storyline will unfold across short form digital content and Season 11 episodes, including a first-ever episode told from George’s audio perspective and moments that see him experience the world of sound in new ways.

Season 10 of Peppa Pig is streaming now on ABC iview, with new episodes coming soon to ABC Kids.
