Khana-i-Farhang show depicts Kashmiris’ plight

QUETTA: A photo exhibition and awareness event was organised by the Youth Forum for Kashmir at Khana -i-Farhang Iran in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day, highlighting through powerful images the suffering and human rights abuses faced by unarmed civilians in India-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing the gathering, Youth Forum for Kashmir Executive Director Sher Ahmed Baloch said February 5 symbolises Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said the purpose of observing the day is to assure Kashmiri brothers and sisters that Pakistan stands shoulder to shoulder with them in every hardship.

He condemned what he termed serious human rights violations by Indian forces in occupied Kashmir, saying such actions are enough to shake the conscience of the international community. He urged the United Nations and world powers to pressure India to implement UN resolutions on Kashmir.

Director General of Khana-i-Farhang Iran, Abul Hassan Mehdi, said Iran and Pakistan are brotherly neighbouring countries, adding that international conspiratorial forces are attempting to keep both nations backward. He reaffirmed Iran’s full support for the Kashmiri struggle and said that Tehran condemns human rights violations anywhere in the world while backing UN resolutions.
