Joe Dante’s The Burbs has become a bit of a cult classic since its release way back in 1989. Starring the likes of Tom Hanks and Carrie Fisher, the film played into the Satanic Panic era by following suburbanites who believe their new neighbors are part of a devil-worshipping cult. Thirty years later, Peacock is reviving the title with a new series starring Keke Palmer (Nope), and today we have our first look at the trailer below!
The new take on Joe Dante’s cult classic follows a young couple returning to the husband’s childhood home. When strange new neighbors move in next door, old secrets of the cul-de-sac come to light, and deadly threats shatter the illusion of their quiet little neighborhood.
Keke Palmer is Madame Dread in our recent digital feature:
I grew up in the all-too-boring Midwest suburbs, so all I can think while watching this trailer is, “accurate”. Your typical cul-de-sac wallows in a dull day-to-day existence, where almost nothing exciting ever happens. Residents do feel a sense of giddiness every time a new neighbor moves in. At first glance, this series appears to take a less sinister approach than the original, but we’ll have to wait until we arrive in the neighborhood ourselves to know for sure. Personally, I’m just excited to see Keke Palmer continue to make her presence felt in the genre. At Dread, we recently had a great discussion with Keke on her new anthology series, Dread Manor.

Enter The Burbs when the series comes to Peacock on February 8th, 2026.
