Karnataka-style Ram idol with gold, silver, diamonds to be installed at Ayodhya

A Karnataka-style idol of Lord Ram, created in Udupi, has reached Ayodhya for installation at the Ram Temple on December 29. The statue features intricate South Indian craftsmanship and is adorned with gold, silver and diamonds. The arrival has drawn attention for blending regional artistic heritage with one of India’s most revered pilgrimage sites.

This special idol weighs approximately five quintals and has been crafted in Karnataka according to traditional sculptural techniques and Vedic principles.

The idol will be installed at the proposed site near the Sant Tulsidas Temple, in the direction of Angad Tila. This historic event will take place on December 29 amid vedic chants, rituals, and religious ceremonies. During this time, the entire Shri Rama Temple complex will be immersed in devotion and spiritual energy.

Dr Anil Mishra, a trustee of the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, said the idol, which weighs 4 quintals and is 7 feet 10 inches tall, was created in the Tanjore style by artist Jayashree Phadish, a resident of Bengaluru who has donated idols to many temples.

He added that all preparations for the installation are in their final stages and the idol will be installed in the temple premises on December 29 at an auspicious time.

Dr Mishra said that this idol will become a new center of faith and devotion for devotees. Saints, religious leaders, and a large number of devotees from across the country are expected to arrive in Ayodhya for this auspicious occasion. With the unveiling of the idol, a new chapter of faith, devotion, and cultural consciousness will be added to the Shri Rama Temple complex, which will serve as a source of inspiration for future generations.

Ayodhya is once again sending the message that the city of Lord Rama is not only a center of faith but also a vibrant symbol of India’s eternal culture and spiritual heritage.
