Karachi Kings continue their winning streak in the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11), defeating RawalPindiz by five wickets in a high-scoring contest at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
Chasing a daunting 198-run target, the 2020 champions reached the finish line with four balls to spare, thanks largely to explosive half-centuries from captain David Warner and wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan.
The Kings had an uneven start to their innings when Muhammad Waseem departed early in the third over with 27 runs already on the board. After the early blow, Salman Ali Agha and Warner steadied things with a composed 43-run partnership for the second wicket. Agha made a useful 29 before falling in the ninth over.
The turning point came when Azam Khan was promoted up the order ahead of Moeen Ali, a move that paid immediate dividends. Azam joined Warner and the pair stitched together a match-defining 76-run stand for the third wicket, keeping Karachi well on track in a pressure chase.
Warner led from the front with a fluent 50 off 36 balls, hitting six fours and a six before Daryl Mitchell removed him in the 16th over. But Azam kept the momentum firmly with Karachi, launching a brutal assault on the bowlers and pushing his side to the brink of victory.
The powerful right-hander top-scored with a stunning 74 off just 34 deliveries, smashing six fours and six sixes in a knock that swung the game decisively in Karachi’s favor. Although Mohammad Amir dismissed him in the penultimate over, the Kings still had enough firepower left.
There was late drama when Mitchell struck on the very first ball of the final over to send Moeen Ali back for five. However, Abbas Afridi wasted no time in ending the contest, hammering a six off the next delivery to seal Karachi’s third consecutive win in the tournament.
For RawalPindiz, Mitchell was the standout performer with the ball, picking up three wickets for 32 runs in 3.2 overs. Naseem Shah and Mohammad Amir chipped in with one wicket each.
Earlier, Karachi’s decision to bowl first did not seem like the right one as RawalPindiz piled up an imposing 197/6 in their 20 overs.
Hasan Ali was Karachi’s most effective bowler, finishing with figures of 3/24 in four overs. Khushdil Shah claimed two wickets, while Mir Hamza took one.
