Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced a complete shutdown of gas supply in Karachi for 48 hours due to a severe shortage in its system.
According to an SSGC spokesperson, gas supply in the city will be suspended from tomorrow at 8:00 am and is expected to remain cut off until 8:00 am on January 5.
The spokesperson explained that the company is facing an acute shortfall of gas, which has badly affected overall availability.
Low line-pack and reduced pressure in the system have already been causing problems for consumers, prompting the utility to move toward a temporary shutdown.
During this period, all industrial units, including power generation plants, will remain without gas, the spokesperson confirmed.
SSGC has appealed to consumers for cooperation and patience, stating that supply will be restored as soon as the gas situation stabilizes and system pressure returns to safe levels.
