Kamen Rider Franchise Gets THE KAMENRIDER ANIMATED Movie Label

As part of the Kamen Rider franchise’s 55th anniversary announcement event, an animated movie label dubbed THE KAMENRIDER ANIMATED has been revealed. Aniplex and Shirogumi are attached.

According to Comic Natalie, the first work under this label will be a completely original title featuring “graphical CG animation” with “manga-like visuals.” “Global expansion’ is also mentioned.

Comic Natalie also says that the label is eyeing anime fans in and outside Japan as its main audience, and seeks to be enjoyable even to those unfamiliar with Kamen Rider.

Kamen Rider, which features heroes with insect motifs and motorcycles, was created by the late manga artist Shotaro Ishinomori. It got its start with a 1971 TV series and has a few dozen entries. A TV anime based on the Fuuto PI manga, a sequel to the 2009 series Kamen Rider W, aired in 2022 and received a 2024 anime movie follow-up.

Evangelion’s Hideaki Anno directed and wrote 2023’s Shin Kamen Rider live-action film.
