Melbourne Victory midfielder Juan Mata has been named Shark Player of the Month for March after a fan vote.
The 37-year-old has been in sublime form all season for Victory and has now taken out his second Player of the Month award for the 2025-26 Isuzu UTE A-League campaign.
Mata has played a key role in helping Melbourne Victory keep themselves in the hunt for a spot in this year’s Finals Series, with the Spanish maestro so far contributing five goals and 13 assists this season.

Since joining Western Sydney Wanderers in the off-season Mata has been a joy to watch, with the Spanish World Cup winner currently top of the Opta charts when it comes to assists (13) and chances created (85), whilst he also ranks second for expected assists (xA) with 6.5.

Mata was nominated for the Shark Player of the Month award for March as one of the 10 highest-rated players on FotMob’s rating system.
During the eligibility period, Mata shone
The 10 players with the highest FotMob rating (from 0.0 to 10.0) across each voting period are selected as the monthly nominees for the Shark Player of the Month award.
The March eligibility period was a shorter one owing to the March FIFA International break and included Rounds 20-22 of the Isuzu UTE A-League season, with games between March 6 and March 22 considered in the FotMob rating system.
The Spaniard played a key role in all three of Melbourne Victory’s matches during the March eligibility period and registered two goals and three assists to help his side draw 2-2 with Sydney FC before pulling the strings in respective 4-1 wins over both Macarthur Bulls and Central Coast Mariners.
Mata has now been named Shark Fan Player of the Month twice during the 2025-26 Isuzu UTE A-League season having also won the award for his performances in January.
Brisbane Roar’s Youstin Salas claimed the award for the October/November period, Auckland FC’s Lachie Brook was the December winner whilst Western Sydney Wanderers midfielder Dylan Scicluna claimed the February award.
