Joe Root in Talks to Play PSL 11

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly in discussions with England’s batting star Joe Root, hoping to sign him for the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11).

While no official agreement has been finalized, multiple franchises are eager to secure the prolific batter to strengthen their squads ahead of the expanded tournament.

In a sign of growing interest from international players, English all‑rounder Moeen Ali has already confirmed his entry into the PSL draft for the upcoming season, generating excitement among fans and teams ahead of the recruitment period.

The PCB has also introduced discussions around direct player signings alongside the traditional draft system, which could allow franchises to secure up to two marquee players outside the draft pool.

PSL 11 is set to be one of the most ambitious editions yet, with the league expanding to eight teams, offering greater opportunities for both domestic talent and international stars.

Joe Root, 34, has had a stellar international career and continues to be one of the most consistent performers for England. He recently achieved the milestone of surpassing 22,000 international runs, cementing his status as one of the modern greats of cricket.

In addition to his impressive statistics, Root has been instrumental in guiding England in high-pressure Test matches, including Ashes series and other key tournaments.

With negotiations ongoing, Root’s potential participation in PSL 11 could be a major attraction for fans, offering the league a high-profile international player to enhance both the competitive quality and global visibility of Pakistan’s premier T20 tournament.
