Islamic Scholar Claims Babar Azam is Possessed by Black Magic

A prominent Islamic scholar has gone viral for claiming that Babar Azam’s poor run of form for Pakistan at the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 is the result of “black magic.”

The Islamic scholar claim suggests that Babar Azam’s inability to rediscover his world-class form is due to supernatural interference. This comes as Babar faces the most challenging period of his career.

During the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 in Sri Lanka and India, Babar Azam has struggled to find his signature rhythm. In five innings, he has managed just 91 runs at a lackluster average of 22.75.

His recent 25 off 24 balls against England in the Super 8s was a flashpoint for critics, as his strike rate of 104.17 was blamed for Pakistan’s inability to set a competitive total.

Head coach Mike Hesson has even moved Babar down to No. 4, noting that his powerplay strike rate, historically below 90 in World Cups, is not what the team requires at the top.

Babar Azam’s maiden stint in the Big Bash League (BBL) with the Sydney Sixers did little to quiet his detractors. Over 11 matches, he scored 202 runs at an average of 22.44. More concerning was his strike rate of 103.06, which stands as the lowest for any player scoring 200+ runs in a single BBL season.

While he showed flashes of brilliance with two half-centuries, he failed to cross 15 runs in eight of his 11 outings.

The “magic” claims follow a multi-year dip in form across all formats. In Test cricket, Babar Azam has failed to score a century since 2022, averaging just 18.5 in 2024. Once the undisputed No. 1 T20I batter, he has now slipped to 31st in the ICC rankings.

While some believe he can rebuild, former players like Rashid Latif have bluntly stated he is “no longer a player of this format”.
