Islamabad United’s Star All-Rounder Demolishes Quetta Gladiators in PSL 11 Clash

Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan produced a match-winning all-round display to lead his side to a commanding win over Quetta Gladiators in the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) at Gaddafi Stadium, turning the contest with both ball and bat.

Shadab first starred with the ball, picking up three important wickets for just 23 runs in his four overs as Islamabad United kept Quetta Gladiators to 183 for five. He then promoted himself up the order during the chase and finished unbeaten with 69 off 39 balls, striking five fours and four sixes to steer his team home in 18.2 overs.

His most important contribution came in an unbroken century stand with Sameer Minhas, who continued his fine form with an unbeaten 83 off 48 deliveries. The young batter struck eight fours and three sixes as Islamabad wrapped up the chase with eight wickets to spare.

Islamabad United’s innings began on a positive note with Devon Conway and Sameer Minhas adding early runs to give the side momentum. Conway made 18 before Quetta Gladiators’ Abrar Ahmed broke the opening partnership, and the same bowler soon removed Andries Gous as well to leave Islamabad at 61 for two.

That brief wobble, however, was followed by complete control. Sameer and Shadab rebuilt the innings smartly before shifting gears, taking the total beyond 100 and then accelerating further as Quetta’s bowlers lost their grip.

Sameer brought up his maiden PSL fifty during the stand, while Shadab registered another half-century of his own and kept the pressure firmly on the opposition.

By the time Islamabad crossed the 150-run mark, the game had effectively slipped away from Quetta. The pair’s partnership ensured there were no late nerves, and United comfortably completed the chase with ten balls remaining.

Earlier, Quetta Gladiators had posted a competitive 183 for five after a lively start from Shamyl Hussain and Saud Shakeel. The opening pair added 50 runs before Salman Irshad dismissed Shamyl for 21. Shakeel then kept the scoreboard moving with an aggressive 42 off 26 balls, but Shadab removed him at a key stage to halt Quetta’s momentum.

Hassan Nawaz then played a strong recovery hand for Quetta, remaining unbeaten on 64 off 35 balls, while Tom Curran added 29. Their partnership gave Quetta a late push and lifted the total to a respectable level, but it ultimately was not enough against Islamabad’s clinical response.
