Islamabad United Likely to Sign This International Fast Bowler Ahead of PSL 11

Islamabad United are expected to bring in Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani as a replacement for West Indies pacer Shamar Joseph ahead of the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) season.

Sources indicate that Islamabad United have parted ways with Shamar Joseph by mutual consent and are moving swiftly to strengthen their pace attack by adding Blessing Muzarabani. Joseph was picked up by United at his base price of Rs. 1.10 crore during the PSL 11 player auction on Friday, with no competing bids from other franchises.

The franchise has opted to make the change as part of its strategy to bolster its fast-bowling resources ahead of the new season. Muzarabani, 29, is no stranger to the PSL, having previously featured in the tournament and being part of Islamabad United’s title-winning squad in 2021.

At present, neither the player nor the franchise is expected to issue a public statement, with the move still subject to approval from the PSL’s technical committee.

Islamabad United, who share the record for the most PSL titles with three championships, have heavily invested in pace options for PSL 11.

Their fast-bowling unit includes Mohammad Hasnain, Salman Irshad, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Mir Hamza, and Richard Gleeson. A seam-bowling all-rounder was also brought back as United’s first pick of the auction and emerged as the second-most expensive signing overall.

Blessing Muzarabani comes into contention following a strong return to form on the international stage. Despite struggling for consistency over the past year, he delivered a Player of the Match performance in Zimbabwe’s emphatic win over Australia at the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, helping his side move into a strong position for qualification to the Super 8s with two wins from two matches.

If confirmed, Muzarabani will join Sikandar Raza as the only other Zimbabwean player in the PSL.
