The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has welcomed the ceasefire involving Israel and Iran, expressing hope that the development leads to lasting peace in the region. During a press conference, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasised India’s consistent stance on ‘de-escalation, dialogue, and diplomacy’ as the primary means to end the conflict, which has caused immense suffering. India also highlighted its expectation for unimpeded passage through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime route.
