Pakistan and Australia are set to kick off their three-match T20I series today at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, with the opening game starting at 4 PM and the toss scheduled for 3:30 PM.
The T20I series should be ideal preparation ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which begins soon after the series ends.
For Pakistan, the timing could hardly be better. The hosts are looking to finalize their strongest combination after a January series against Sri Lanka where a few senior names were missing.
Those experienced players are now back in the frame, including Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi, giving Pakistan a chance to settle roles and momentum right before the biggest tournament of the year.
Australia, however, arrive with a different set of circumstances. The series comes right on the heels of the Big Bash League (BBL), and their selectors appear to be treating this tour more as targeted preparation and a chance to look at a few options rather than a full rehearsal with their first-choice World Cup XI.
Several key World Cup players are not part of the immediate plans in Lahore, and availability for the first match is also expected to be impacted by the tight turnaround for players involved deep into the BBL.
