The upcoming Fist of the North Star: Hokuto no Ken anime has gotten a new trailer and an April 10. 25:00 JST (effectively April 11 at 1:00 JST) start date.
It was also announced that Alexandros‘ “Hallelujah” will be the anime’s opening song, and that the cast will include Yuichi Nakamura as Rei and Ruriko Aoki as Mamiya.
Fist of the North Star: Hokuto no Ken is a new adaptation of the manga (simply Hokuto no Ken, or Fist of the North Star) written by Buronson and drawn by Tetsuo Hara. The premise sees Kenshiro, a master of the Hokuto Shinken martial art, becoming a savior in a post-apocalyptic world devastated by nuclear war.
Prime Video has claimed the anime for streaming.
The manga was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from 1983 to 1988. A two-season anime series and an anime movie were released in the 80s. Later, a new series comprising OVAs and movies was released between 2006 and 2008 with five installments.
Fist of the North Star has also inspired other media, like a 1995 live-action film, a stage play, and video games. A novel titled Hokuto no Ken: Jubaku no Machi was published in 1996 and received a 2003-2004 three-episode OVA adaptation titled New Fist of the North Star.
A motion comic adaptation of the Elegy for the Henchmen: Fist of the North Star gag manga spin-off, Fist of the North Star: Elegy of Ken-Oh’s Army Grunts, premiered in January 2026.
