The federal government has dismissed a fuel adjustment notification currently circulating on social media that the Petroleum Division has slashed petrol price by Rs. 78 per litre and diesel by Rs. 100 per litre.
Sources told ProPakistani that the government has termed the notification as fake and urged the public and media outlets not to propagate misinformation. The new fuel prices will be notified during the late hours of Friday, sources added.
The government has clarified that no press release regarding petroleum prices has been issued recently.
Last week, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reduced petrol prices by Rs. 80 per litre, just one day after announcing a record-high increase.
Pakistan remains highly sensitive to global crude price fluctuations because it depends largely on imports.
The federal government has urged citizens to rely only on verified official sources for updates on petroleum prices.
