Hania Aamir on People Hating Successful & Happy Women

Hania Aamir is the most popular and followed Pakistani celebrity, with 20 million followers on Instagram. She was recently praised in Meri Zindagi Hai Tu, which was one of her blockbuster dramas. Hania Aamir is known for her active Instagram presence, but she recently took a break from it because of the toxicity on social media against women.

Hania Aamir has shared why she was upset with social media and why she stayed away from it.

Hania Aamir, in her random bathroom rant, said “I am no stranger to controversy, and considering everything that had been going around me, I actually got very exhausted. I wanted to take some time off because at this point, I don’t know what’s happening. I spent weeks just thinking, what’s wrong? Am I doing something wrong? Should I reinvent myself? Do I need to do things differently? And I realized that people just hate happy women. Most of them are from our own fraternity. People pull us down, and I am not saying just men; women would pull us down too. Of course, people hate on us because they want us to fit into the mould that they have for us in their minds.”

She further added, “The real problem is when we think, what will people say, which is a very old concept. We talk a lot about not caring about what people say, but it has all just shifted from relatives and family to Instagram. We’re still pitting women against each other, still labeling them as dark-skinned, fair-skinned, fat, or thin. The hate is not good for women, and I appeal to women as well—it’s not making sense anymore because you’re just aimlessly pointing fingers. I have recently seen women being bullied just for existing; they are not even saying anything. Stop gaslighting and bullying people in general. Let them be whoever they are, please; everyone can’t be the same.” Watch the complete video here, which was shared by Hania Aamir on her official Instagram.
