Hana Hishikawa is joining the voice cast of the upcoming Toaru Anbu no Item TV anime series. Her casting was first announced during NBC Universal Japan’s AnimeJapan 2026 stage event. The anime will air in Japan sometime this coming Fall 2026 after first being announced in February 2025.

Hishikawa will voice the character Choubi Hanano, who is briefly seen in the anime’s teaser trailer that was released earlier last week.
She joins a main voice cast that stars:
- • Ami Koshimizu as Shizuri Mugino
- • Maaya Uchida as Frenda Seivelun
- • Aya Suzaki as Riko Takitsubo
- • Chinatsu Akasaki as Saiai Kinuhata
Tatsuyuki Nagai (A Certain Scientific Railgun, Anohana, Toradora!) is directing the anime series at J.C.STAFF, with Shigeki Kimoto (DanMachi) as character designer.
Toaru Anbu no Item is based on the light novel series, written by A Certain Magical Index (Toaru Majutsu no Index) author Kazuma Kamachi and illustrated by Niritsu, who is credited as co-character designer with A Certain Magical Index illustrator Kiyotaka Haimura. It was first published under ASCII Media Works’ Dengeki Bunko imprint on March 10, 2023 and has released six volumes in Japan as of February 2026.
A manga adaptation drawn by strelka was launched in October 2023.
A fourth season of the A Certain Magical Index spinoff series A Certain Scientific Railgun was also announced in February 2025. Among the various Toaru spin-offs, A Certain Scientific Accelerator also received a TV anime that ran for 12 episodes in 2019.
