This week, Postcards explores the CBD, including the return of The Book of Mormon, before heading to the leafy hills of Geelong and back to the shores of the Mornington Peninsula.

Sammy J takes center stage in the Melbourne CBD (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country) to celebrate the return of the hilariously unhinged musical, The Book of Mormon, at the Princess Theatre. After catching up with the cast, he heads to Mondo Gelateria on Elizabeth Street, where owner Rio Olivetti serves up inventive flavors inspired by his training in Italy.

To cap off the night, Sammy discovers Miss Gunn’s, a hidden basement bar tucked beneath Flinders Street Station that brings a touch of mysterious history to Melbourne’s cocktail scene.

Kris Smith escapes to the Mornington Peninsula to explore the coastal beauty of Mount Martha (Bunurong Country). He visits local favorite Via Battisti, a thriving hospitality hub run by Dan Force, before heading inland to The Briars. This 230-hectare conservation park offers a serene look at the region’s oldest historic buildings and local wildlife.

Kris finishes his journey at Dromana Estate in Tuerong, enjoying a glass of premium Pinot Noir and the hospitality of one of the peninsula’s pioneering wineries.

For lunch, Shane heads to Greca Street for a traditional Mediterranean feast, before finding a “little piece of Santorini” at the Olympia Wine Bar rooftop, the perfect spot for mezze and sunset drinks over the Oakleigh Market.

Madeline Spark visits Highton (Wathaurong Country), a hilltop suburb known for its community spirit and stunning views across Geelong. Her first stop is Pane di Matteo, an artisan Italian bakery on Porter Avenue where owner Matt shares his twenty-year passion for traditional bread-making.

Maddie then explores the “slow art” of wood carving at The Woodwork Studio with owner Tarnya Scott, before settling in for a Middle Eastern-inspired feast and riverside views at the picturesque Barwon Edge.
