Govt Collects Rs. 828 Billion from People in Petrol Taxes

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) collected Rs. 828 billion in Petroleum Development Levy (PDL) during the period from July to December, official sources told ProPakistani.

Sources said that customs enforcement operations have significantly reduced the smuggling of petroleum products, contributing to higher revenue collection. Compared to the previous fiscal year, PDL revenue increased by Rs. 284 billion during July to November.

During the July-November period, total PDL collection stood at Rs. 706 billion, FBR sources said. Of this amount, Rs. 146 billion was generated through improved legal supply of fuel, while Rs. 138 billion was collected due to price adjustments.

As part of the nationwide crackdown on illegal fuel trade, the FBR has sealed 1,442 illegal petrol pumps across the country. However, sources acknowledged that approximately 142 petrol pumps are still operating illegally and selling petroleum products without authorization.

Customs enforcement authorities have taken multiple measures to curb the smuggling of petroleum products. These operations were carried out across various areas of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan, sources added.

Officials said continued enforcement actions are expected to further improve revenue collection and ensure compliance with petroleum regulations.
