Google has introduced new Gemini AI features for Google TV, expanding its AI integration across devices. The update brings three new capabilities focused on sports updates, visual responses, and AI-powered topic exploration.
Visual Responses
One of the main additions is improved visual responses to user questions. When users ask about sports scores, Google TV can now display live scorecards along with information on where to watch the game.
The feature also supports other use cases. For example, recipe-related queries can return video tutorials instead of text-only responses.
Google said Gemini combines visuals, videos, and text to provide more complete answers across different types of queries.
AI “Deep Dive” Feature
Google is also introducing a “deep dive” feature that generates detailed walkthroughs for topics such as health and wellness, economics, and technology.
These responses include narration, custom visuals, and support for follow-up questions. Users can access the feature through the Gemini tab by selecting “Learn” or by asking the system to “dive deeper” after an initial query.
Sports Briefs
Another addition is sports briefs, which provide summaries for teams and leagues selected by the user.
These briefs include narrated overviews, scores, highlights, player updates, and game summaries. The feature is launching with coverage for leagues such as the NBA, NCAA basketball, NHL, MLB, MLS, and NWSL.
An early preview of the features was shown at CES in January. Initial impressions suggested that the tools range from practical to less essential, depending on the use case.
