Glacier Bay Books Licenses 2 Short Story Manga Collections, Acquires Star Fruit Books Titles & Publishing Line

Independent manga publisher Glacier Bay Books announced the licensing of two new short story manga collections, as well as the acquisition of Star Fruit Books’ titles and publishing line.

Here are the details:

Basement Attic

Story and Art: Naoto Yamakawa

This is the first complete English release of Yamakawa’s work, following the publication of his work For Sleepless Nights in the first volume of the manga anthology series Glaeolia

Glacier Bay Books describes the short story collection as:

Short stories full of humor, verve, charm, and the occasional slyly cynical undertone…

Shitsugaikishitsu

Story and Art: Chome

A short story manga collection from Chome and Futabasha. More details such as the manga’s English edition cover, title, and production will be revealed in a future announcement.

Glacier Bay Books describes the manga as:

Four mysterious magical realist short stories about people whose lives intersect unexpectedly and in different ways with a hidden world…

The publisher also confirmed the status of several Kickstarter preorders, with Baku-Chan, Box Garden Beetle, Liddell 1-3 in the process of being printed. True Blue Never Fades, Universe from the Balcony, and The Cursed Body are currently finishing their prepress process and will be printed soon. More details about the preorder releases will be shared with Kickstarter backers through the platform.

It was also announced that Star Fruit Books will be transferring its publishing line and inventory to Glacier Bay Books. This comes after the passing of founder Matt Haasch, which was announced last September.

Glacier Bay Books is working with Matt’s mother and the Star Fruit Books team to “ensure continuation of their publishing work.” As a result of the transfer, all of Star Fruit Books’ existing licenses and publications will move over to the former’s operations. The publisher will also fulfill any outstanding Star Fruit Books direct orders.

The publisher also stated that it is working on finalizing the arrangements of the transfer and integrating Star Fruit Books release schedule with its own. More information will be revealed in future announcements.

Additionally, Glacier Bay Books announced the launch of a new website platform for direct retail accounts. It details the following benefits and features:

  • • A complete integrated catalog with all relevant product fields, details, and restrictions.
  • • A frictionless, complete order placement and tracking system, with built in full customizability, status, and payment flagging.
  • • Multiple payment integrations.
