GKIDS has announced that it will screen Lupin the IIIRD: The Movie – The Immortal Bloodline in U.S. theatres from January 4, 2026 to January 6, 2026. The anime film was previously released in Japan on June 27, 2025.

The company also posted an English-subtitled version of the film on its YouTube channel.

Takeshi Koike is directing the The Immortal Bloodline anime film, having previously worked on titles such as Redline, Lupin the IIIrd: Jigen’s Gravestone, Lupin the IIIrd: Goemon’s Blood Spray, and Lupin the IIIrd: Fujiko’s Lie

Other production staff include Yuya Takahashi (Lupin the IIIrd: Jigen’s Gravestone, Lupin the IIIrd: Goemon’s Blood Spray) as screenwriter, James Shimoji (Lupin the IIIrd: Jigen’s Gravestone, Lupin the IIIrd: Goemon’s Blood Spray, and Lupin the IIIrd: Fujiko’s Lie) as music composer, and Katsuhito Ishii (Redline character and machine designer et al., Lupin the IIIrd: Jigen’s Gravestone, Lupin the IIIrd: Goemon’s Blood Spray, and Lupin the IIIrd: Fujiko’s Lie) as creative advisor. Telecom Animation Film is in charge of the film’s animation production.

Meanwhile, the film’s main voice cast stars:

  • • Kanichi Kurita as Lupin the IIIrd
  • • Akio Otsuka as Daisuke Jigen
  • • Daisuke Namikawa as Goemon Ishikawa XIII
  • • Miyuki Sawashiro as Fujiko Mine
  • • Koichi Yamadera as Zenigata
  • • Ainosuke Kataoka as Muomu
  • • Aoi Morikawa as Sarifa

A prequel titled Lupin the IIIrd: Zenigata to Futari no Lupin streamed in Japan before the theatrical premiere of The Immortal Bloodline on June 20, 2025.

The new film is the franchise’s first main 2D animated feature film since Lupin the 3rd Dead Or Alive in 1996. The Lupin film entries Koike previously directed were not feature length and were all spinoffs of Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine

The Lupin III franchise began with the manga series by the late Monkey Punch, which ran in Futabasha’s Weekly Manga Action magazine from August 10, 1967 to May 22, 1969. A total of fourteen tankobon volumes were originally published in Japan. Tokyopop licensed the manga for release in English between 2002 to 2004. Seven Seas Entertainment later licensed and published select chapters in English omnibus book format in 2021 and 2023.

The manga series inspired a franchise that includes several manga entries, TV anime adaptations, films, crossovers, OVAs, and a 3DCG anime film. One of the earliest Lupin III anime films was Hayao Miyazaki‘s The Castle of Cagliostro.
