GKIDS Announces Two-Night Screening Dates for Shoji Kawamori’s Labyrinth Anime Film

After acquiring its North American distribution rights earlier this February, GKIDS has announced that the Labyrinth original anime film will screen in theaters for only two nights on May 10, 2026 and May 11, 2026. The anime film premiered in Japan on January 1, 2026.

An English key visual and English-subtitled trailer were also released for Labyrinth. It will be presented in theaters in Japanese with English subtitles and English dub languages. 

Shoji Kawamori served as director the anime film (known in Japan as Meikyu no Shiori), with Risa Ebata (AKB0048 next stage, Macross F co-character designer) as character designer and Taichi Hashimoto (Revisions co-series composer, Listeners co-series draft writer) as scriptwriter. Sanzigen is in charge of the film’s animation production. 

Meanwhile, the main voice cast stars Atarashii Gakko! member SUZUKA as Shiori Maezawa and SHIORI, timelesz member Takuto Teranishi as Suguru Kagami, and Taizo Harada as Komori. 

Labyrinth was previously screened at the Scotland Loves Animation event in November 2025 and had a fan screening in Malaysia in December 2025. 

Abnormal Studios announced that it would distribute the film to Southeast Asian and Australasian locations such as Malaysia, Brunei, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos, Australia, and New Zealand in 2026.

GKIDS describes the main premise of Labyrinth as: 

Shiori is a typical high school student who dreams of online stardom, but struggles to capture attention. After an embarrassing video of her goes viral, she gets trapped in her smartphone and replaced by a charismatic alter ego. As the doppelganger charms the internet and devises a nefarious plot to replace mankind with brainrot, Shiori must partner with other online outcasts to stop her digital counterpart and reclaim her life in the real world.
