The satellite transmission of leading Pakistani news channel Geo News was reportedly hacked by unidentified individuals, resulting in the sudden suspension of its regular broadcasts.
According to initial reports, the disruption occurred when unknown actors gained unauthorized access to the channel’s satellite frequency, causing technical interruptions across multiple regions.
Sources told ProPakistani that during the breach, unusual content appeared on screen targeting state institutions in Pakistan. The unauthorized material replaced scheduled programming, raising concerns about the security of broadcast infrastructure and satellite communication systems.
Technical teams at Geo News immediately began efforts to restore transmission and remove the unauthorized content.
Engineers and broadcast specialists are currently investigating how the intrusion occurred and whether vulnerabilities in the satellite uplink or transmission chain were exploited.
Media analysts say that such incidents are rare but can have significant implications for information security and public communication.
The disruption temporarily affected viewers who rely on the channel for real-time news updates and current affairs coverage.
