A delicious celebration of new flavours, gelati and family fun is coming to the Barossa this January, with Barossa Valley Chocolate Company launching its GelatiFest.
Benni’s Cafe and Gelati Bar will be doubling from 15 to an impressive 30 flavours over the month. To put the cherry on top, three limited-edition flavours will be released each week across the festival period, ensuring there’s always something new to discover.
“GelatiFest is all about summer fun, playfulness and creating those shared moments that people remember,” said Sally Day, Marketing Manager at Barossa Valley Chocolate Company.
“It’s the kind of experience where kids laugh on the lawns, friends gather over decadent treats, and families slow down together, with something delicious in hand, of course.”
Set against sweeping vineyard views just minutes from Tanunda, GelatiFest transforms the much-loved destination into a hub of flavour, creativity and family-friendly fun, inviting visitors to linger longer and return often throughout January.
Three new flavours will be released each week, but a little birdy gave us a sneak peek into the soft serves, and its looking like the line-up of our dreams.
Week one brings cookie-inspired scoops including Tim Tam, ANZAC Biscuit and Melting Moment. Week two leans into dessert nostalgia with Lemon Cheesecake, Berry Pavlova and Apple Pie and Custard. Week three dares visitors to be adventurous with Curry Spiced Mango, Breakfast Cereal and Vegemite Caramel, before week four celebrates Australiana with Lamington, Fairy Bread and refreshing Finger Lime Sorbet.
Across the month visitors can indulge in mega sundaes and festival-only creations, chocolate and gelati tasting experiences, a decadent waffle menu and relaxed dining at Benni’s of Barossa Café. The deck and lakeside lawns provide the perfect setting to unwind, snap photos and soak up the summer atmosphere.
The gelati cabinet is already overflowing with crowd favourites, including rich peanut brownie, creamy banana caramel with ribbons of golden caramel, and classic pistachio, alongside rotating limited specials that guarantee repeat visits.
Families are especially well catered for, with make-your-own chocolate experiences, hosted Junior Chocolatier Workshops for children and an outdoor movie night screening of The Castle on January 24. Art workshops for adults round out the program, making GelatiFest a great day out for everyone.
“We love creating fun, memorable experiences, where serious chocolate meets serious fun,” Sally said. “GelatiFest adds even more colour, creativity and joy to summer in the Barossa.”
“Tune into our socials to discover what delightful flavours we’re scooping up each week.”
