A Gawler nurse is still pinching herself after a $1.2 million Saturday X Lotto win, but says one thing won’t change – she plans to keep caring for her community.
The Adelaide resident was one of five division one winners nationally in Saturday X Lotto draw 4645, taking home $1,286,587.92 after checking her ticket on Sunday night. When officials from The Lott called to confirm the win, the reality was still sinking in. “My hands are shaking,” she said, laughing through disbelief. “Thank you so much. Oh my god. I can call my kids now and tell them I wasn’t dreaming.”
She said the moment she saw the result, nothing quite made sense. “I checked the ticket on Sunday night and I just went ‘Wait. What?’ I clicked on my ticket, and I thought ‘That can’t be right! I’m a nurse, this stuff doesn’t happen to me!’” she said. After grabbing her son to double-check the numbers, the shock only grew. “My eyes were just not believing it. God, my heart is still thumping. I feel like I’m about to have heart failure.”
The winning numbers were a mix of quick picks and meaningful dates. “They’re just random numbers I plonk in there but funnily enough, there are a few family birthdays on the ticket,” she said.
While the windfall opens new doors, her priorities are firmly grounded in family and stability. She plans to help her children clear debts, look at buying a home for herself, and ease into retirement when the time is right. Even so, she has no intention of stepping away from nursing. “I’ll still work because I love my job,” she said. “Thank you so much. You have no idea how much this will help.”
Her 36-game entry was purchased via The Lott app, with the winning numbers drawn on Saturday 24 January 2026. Across Australia, five division one entries shared the top prize, with wins recorded in New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria and South Australia – including this life-changing result for a nurse from Gawler.
