Four shots were fired near the Juhu residence of Bollywood director Rohit Shetty late Saturday night in Mumbai, police officials said, police said. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Following the firing, police rushed to the spot and deployed a large number of personnel in and around the area. Security agencies immediately cordoned off the locality as a precautionary measure, and the area remains under increased police patrol.
According to people present at the scene, four rounds of gunfire were heard outside Shetty’s house, after which police and security agencies acted swiftly. Senior officers from the city police, zonal units, and the crime branch reached the location soon after.
The Mumbai Police Commissioner confirmed the incident and said an investigation is underway. “Firing has taken place at the building. We are investigating all possible angles to identify the culprits,” he said, adding that the probe is being jointly handled by senior police officials and the crime branch.
The police is examining the matter from all possible angles. Officials said they are also looking into the possible involvement of international gangs, though no conclusions have been drawn so far.
Video footage showing police activity outside the filmmaker’s residence has begun circulating on social media. The visuals show police vehicles, barricades, and officers deployed outside the building.
Rohit Shetty and his family have not issued any statement regarding the incident.
