FIRST LOOK: Hailing from São Paulo, Tortas et Délices is bringing Brazilian artisan pastry to the Adelaide Central Market

After successful runs in São Paulo and Sydney, pastry chef Guilherme Cruz, has brought his business to Adelaide offering a fusion of French, Brazilian and Australian flavours.

Guilherme originally launched his food to the world in 2018 in São Paulo, Brazil, before expanding to Sydney and now Adelaide. The venue Tortas et Délices is a culinary tribute to Guilherme’s family tradition and quite literally translates to ‘cakes and delights.’

What item on the menu has everyone in a frenzy? The ‘coffeeroon’ of course. A signature macaron designed with the South Australian palate in mind, the taste similar to that of a farmers union iced ocfee.

“It’s not only a cake or a product, it’s an experience full of wonderful memories,” said Chef Guilherme.

“Many people tell me that when they taste my sweets, they feel nostalgic, reminded of something their  own grandmothers use to make, hearing that means the world to me.”

Other menu options include abstract cakes and choux pastries, brazilian chocolate truffles and cookie bar bites.

The business will take over the Market’s rotating stall from 10 to 28 March, offering visitors the chance to experience a menu of handcrafted desserts inspired by family tradition and global influence

“We believe the Adelaide Central Market is the perfect location to share our passion for locally made  sweets,” Guilherme said. “It’s an exciting opportunity to work alongside passionate retailers and build  lasting relationships within the food community.”

Tortas et Délices will be at the Adelaide Central Market Producer in Residence stall until 28 March.

If you’re a fan of artisan pastry go ahead and experience the ‘abstract’ beauty of Guilherme’s creations firsthand.
