A new dessert destination has arrived in Adelaide’s inner-west, giving us cake in a can, acai, smoothies, matcha and more, just in time to help us cool down in the summer heat wave.

Working a nine-to-five in a corporate office was never Amy Norouzi’s idea of a dream job, just a safe way to work. After a moment of honesty with herself, she knew this wasn’t the lifestyle she intended.

“I wanted to build something joyful, creative and meaningful,” Amy said.

Livo is made for creating moments. Moments of a late-night snack run with friends, moments of licking acai off your nose and moments where a cookie is just the right treat to buy your mum. Stepping through the doors, you’ll find purple hues lighting up the room, from a bright neon sign reading ‘LIVO’ to the wall art of dripping acai.

“I’m genuinely excited to greet customers when they walk in, share what’s new, build connections and get to know our customers,” Amy said.

Located along Grange Road, in Allenby Gardens, Livo has quickly become a go-to for morning coffees, post-gym protein shakes, after-dinner desserts and those late-night cravings.

The in-house gelato helps soothe those sugary desires, with espresso, banana, Oreo, Nutella, vanilla and pistachio making up the flavour palette. But rather than being scooped, it’s cut as layers of gelato and toppings, which create a mouth-watering gelato slice.

The cake-to-go range is crafted in the kitchen and features rotating flavours of tiramisu, cheesecake and the now-viral banana pudding. Even the creams used in matcha floats, from taro and coconut to strawberry and mango, are created by the team themselves.

“The creative flavour combinations we’re constantly experimenting with will keep you guessing what we will excitable get you to try next,” Amy said. “I genuinely love showcasing new ideas and evolving the menu, it keeps the space exciting and alive.”

After only a few weeks of being open, Livo has already got regulars who put in their coffee order, which of course, can’t be done without a small daily yarn about the neighbourhood. Amy, who’s been a local for over ten years, doesn’t mind chatting with each new face who visits her dessert store.

“I wanted Livo to feel local, right at the heart of the community here, welcoming and somewhere people would return to again and again.”

Allenby Gardens has just scored an irresistibly sweet treat, some come in a cone, others in a cup, but this one is in a can.
