Disney+ has released the official trailer for new Hulu series The Testaments, offering the first proper look at the next chapter in the world of The Handmaid’s Tale.
The new drama continues the story of Gilead years after the events of the original series, shifting focus to a younger generation raised inside the regime from the team behind The Handmaid’s Tale.
Based on Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name, the series blends coming of age drama with the rigid power structures that defined its predecessor which ran for 6 seasons.

At the centre of the story are teenagers Agnes and Daisy, two young women navigating life within Gilead’s strict social order.
Agnes was taken from her real parents, June and Luke, as a child and raised inside the regime, growing up dutiful, devout and shaped by the world that renamed her.
Daisy arrives from beyond Gilead’s borders, a newcomer whose presence begins to challenge what Agnes believes about the society she has always known.
Their journey unfolds inside Aunt Lydia’s elite school for future wives, where obedience is enforced through religious authority and strict discipline.
According to the series logline, their growing friendship becomes the catalyst that begins to challenge the foundations of the system shaping their lives.
The cast includes Ann Dowd, Chase Infiniti, Lucy Halliday, Mabel Li, Amy Seimetz, Brad Alexander, Rowan Blanchard, Mattea Conforti, Zarrin Darnell Martin, Eva Foote, Isolde Ardies, Shechinah Mpumlwana, Birva Pandya and Kira Guloien.

The series was created for television by showrunner and executive producer Bruce Miller.
Executive producers include Warren Littlefield, Elisabeth Moss, Steve Stark, Shana Stein, Maya Goldsmith, John Weber, Sheila Hockin, Daniel Wilson and Fran Sears, with Mike Barker directing the first three episodes.
The Testaments is a Hulu series produced by MGM Television, an Amazon company, for Disney+.
The Testaments premieres April 8 on Disney+ in Australia, launching with three episodes before continuing weekly.
