Jewellery heists, family secrets and a missing meteorite collide in the new ABC Family adventure series Caper Crew.
Inspired by real life Australian criminals and packed with mischief, the family comedy drama follows a group of kids who decide the best way to solve a mystery is to start their own gang.
The series was first unveiled by the ABC at last year’s Australian Children’s Content Summit, a gathering of the children’s screen industry, as one of two new ABC Kids commissions announced at the event.

Starring Tina Bursill, Annie Maynard, Guy Edmonds and Michael Theo, the series draws inspiration from the true exploits of the Kangaroo Gang, a group of Australian thieves who carried out daring jewellery robberies across Europe in the 1960s.
The story centres on siblings Amelia and Kai Delaney, whose quiet life in Woodspring is turned upside down when their glamorous con artist grandmother Queenie suddenly arrives with a talent for trouble and a suspiciously colourful past.
Soon the pair are learning Queenie’s “Ten Con-mandments” of grifting while chasing the town’s biggest mystery, the long lost Woodspring Nug, a priceless meteorite stolen decades earlier by Queenie’s notorious crew.
With a $100,000 reward on the line, Amelia and Kai recruit their friends Penelope and Ophelbert to form their own gang, the Joeys, racing against Queenie’s former crew and Amelia’s nemesis Emilia Katinkatonk to find the treasure first.
Produced by Easy Tiger for the ABC, with major investment from Screen Australia and the Australian Children’s Television Foundation, the series is executive produced by Ian Collie and Rob Gibson with Yingna Lu as series producer.
