Adelaide’s west is about to get spicy, as the hottest outdoor festival sets up shop in Lockleys this April with a celebration of all things chilli, spice and street food.
Fire & Spice will be taking over Lockleys Oval from 10am to 4pm on Sunday, April 19th, for a full day of family fun and some seriously hot competition. The festival will be a must-visit for spice lovers, bringing together local foodies, live entertainment and chilli enthusiasts.
The Chilli Marketplace will be at the centre of the event, where visitors can browse and buy everything from small-batch sauces and spice blends to fresh produce and artisan goods. For those keen to level up their culinary game, there will be live cooking demonstrations running throughout the day, offering tips, tricks and plenty of inspiration for cooking with chilli.
For those looking for a challenge, the final South Australian heat of the National Australian Chilli Championships will bring the drama. Hosted by Burning Bites Down Under, the competition will see 10 contenders battle it out across 15 intense rounds, starting with relatively mild jalapenos and building all the way up to the infamous Carolina Reaper. With a spot in the national finals on the line, along with cash prizes and bragging rights, this will be one to check out.
Radio Italiana 531 will also be hosting its peperoncino competition. Festivalgoers are invited to enter their homegrown chillies across three categories, hottest, longest and best looking, with winners taking home a Fire & Spice prize pack.
Plus, some of Adelaide’s best food vendors will be on deck. Catch Big G’s Jerky, Spice Grilz, Salt Gang, Kimchi Club, Grund’s Gourmet and many more, all serving up delicious spicy treats. Families are also well catered for, with a range of free activities and entertainment for kids throughout the day, making it an easy way to entertain the whole family.
