“When the infected attack… what do they see?”
We’re only a month away from the highly-anticipated sequel 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. Of course, that means promotion is ramping up to get everyone to grab a ticket, so we have a final trailer!
Focusing on Ralph Fiennes Dr. Ian Kelson, the clip sees the character lament how much the world has changed since the “infected” became rampant.
However, Kelson remains optimistic that one day a cure will be found for the affliction, and society will reunite once again. To that end, Kelson appears to develop empathy for the hoard, eventually carving out a relationship with their “leader,” Samson.
Whilst not explicitly spoiled in the clip, it is heavily hinted that the hulking Samson will be Kelson’s test subject, as he desperately searches for a cure.
Elsewhere, Alfie Williams’ Spike is seen putting his newly-learned survival skills to the test. Separated from his father, Spike falls into the clutches of the sinister cult known as “The Jimmy’s,” led by Jack O’Connell.
Offering hope, but hinting at a great deal of further conflict, The Bone Temple seems to continue the previous movie’s character-heavy themes.
Fiennes, Williams, O’Connell, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson will all reprise their roles from this year’s 28 Years Later. Also in the mix is 28 Days Later star Cillian Murphy, who is expected to reprise his role as Jim for a brief cameo. According to writer-producer Danny Boyle, Murphy’s cameo will set up further involvement in the third instalment of this sequel trilogy.
28 Years Later: The Bone Temple will bite into theatres on January 16th 2026, and we’re undeniably curious to see if it repeats the success of its predecessor.
