FBR Seals 2 More Sugar Mills on Tax Evasion Charges

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has sealed two chutes at Chanar Sugar Mill in Samundri, Faisalabad, for violating the mandatory Track and Trace System, as part of its zero tolerance policy against tax evasion in the sugar sector.

In a separate enforcement action, Safina Sugar Mills in Lalian, Chiniot, was also sealed for non-compliance with FBR’s electronic monitoring and tracking requirements, according to officials.

The tax authority said the action reflects its firm resolve to continue enforcement against sugar mills involved in violations of the Track and Trace System, which is aimed at ensuring transparency in production and preventing tax leakage.

The latest move comes just days after similar sealing actions against other sugar mills, signalling an intensification of enforcement as the crushing season progresses.

Officials added that strict monitoring and enforcement will continue even after the end of the crushing season to ensure compliance and maintain regular sugar supply to consumers.

The tax authority reiterated that no leniency would be shown to mills found bypassing the Track and Trace System, warning that further violations would invite swift action.
