Fark samjho, sir ji: Rahul Gandhi slams PM over Trump tariffs, mentions Indira Gandhi – Delhi News

In a sharp criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s handling of recent U.S. tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused Modi of “surrendering” under pressure. Gandhi shared a video message on social media platform X, captioning it “Fark samjho sirji,” highlighting what he perceives as a stark difference in leadership styles between Modi and former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

The controversy stems from Trump’s recent speech at the House GOP Member Retreat, where he claimed Modi had requested a meeting, saying, “Prime Minister Modi came to see me, ‘Sir, may I see you please’. Yes.” Trump further noted that India is now facing significant tariffs, particularly after reducing its purchases of Russian oil “very substantially.”

In his video, Gandhi took a jibe on Modi and the BJP-RSS, stating, “I know these BJP–RSS people very well now. Put just a little pressure on them, give them a little push and they run away in fear. As soon as Trump signalled from there, they picked up the phone and said, ‘What are you doing Modi ji?’ Narendra…. Surrender and with ‘ji Huzur’, Narendra Modi ji followed Trump’s signal.”

To underscore his point, Gandhi invoked Indira Gandhi’s leadership during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. He recalled, “You might remember a time when the phone call didn’t come — the Seventh Fleet had come. In the 1971 war, the Seventh Fleet came, weapons came, an aircraft carrier came. Indira Gandhi ji said, ‘I will do what I have to do.’ This is the difference.”
