Farhan Saeed is a celebrated and talented Pakistani actor and singer. He first gained fame as the lead vocalist of the musical band Jal before transitioning into acting. His other notable dramas include Udaari, Prem Gali, Mere Humsafar, Suno Chanda, and Shirin Farhad. Suno Chanda was his first blockbuster drama, followed by Mere Humsafar. He also enjoys a strong social media presence with 4.1 million followers on Instagram, and his popularity continues to rise. Recently, Farhan Saeed appeared on Mahwash Ajax’s podcast, where he discussed the toxic portrayal in Pakistani dramas in detail.
Talking about it, Farhan Saeed said, “I have been offered toxic scripts multiple times, which I refused. Now I am offered those positive boy characters. My take is: these are dramas, they are not meant to preach to you—just watch or change the channel. It’s just a form of entertainment, but unfortunately, our dramas are shaping behaviour, and people take lessons from them. Now that dramas have become a source of preaching, it becomes our responsibility to teach positive things. One of our recent dramas showed a hero putting a gun to a woman’s head, and he was still being glorified as the woman was in love with him. If you show something like this, then the character should face punishment in the end. If I were to portray such a character, I would ensure he gets punished. There was a scene in Mere Humsafar where I had to slap Hala, but I refused. I explained that if I slapped her, there would be no difference between Hamza and his mother.” Here is the link to the video:
