What Kristaps Porzingis said about his return to TD Garden
Warriors guard Stephen Curry sat out Wednesday night’s game against the Celtics with a nagging knee injury, but he made the trip to TD Garden anyway.
Apparently, he still had to endure some unwelcome contact.
A video captured by an X user shows a fan grabbing Curry’s arm as he walked towards the player’s tunnel.
“Want a quick boot from an NBA arena?” the post from @KyleCelt33 read. “Grab Steph Curry and yank his arm. Security was on it quick and they were ushered out.”
Curry was minding his own business when the fan tried to get his attention. The fan reached out and pulled Curry towards the stands. Curry turned towards the fan and stared for a brief moment before freeing his arm and continuing his walk.
The Celtics beat the Warriors in a 120-99 rout Wednesday night while Curry was sidelined. Golden State shot 10-for-43 (23 percent) from 3-point range without him. Former Celtic big man Kristaps Porzingis tied for the team high in 3-point attempts with seven.
“One step forward, one step back. I don’t think we’re there yet,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said after the game. “It’s going to take more than what we’re showing right now. I think our guys are playing hard. It’s easy to get discouraged when you don’t have the firepower that we’re missing right now because it kind of feels like you have to be perfect and it’s hard to play through 48 minutes when you don’t have the shotmaking, the explosiveness to go on a huge run.”
Curry, 36, has missed 18 consecutive games with knee pain and inflammation. The Warriors, currently ninth in the Western Conference, are fighting for a playoff spot as he recovers.
Curry took shots during pregame warmups Wednesday night, but he was ultimately scratched from the Golden State lineup.
“It feels good to see him with the team whether that’s in the locker room or on the floor,” Kerr said. “I guess we’ll have an update Saturday, but yeah it’s great to have him on the trip.”
